Meghan J. Ward is an outdoor, travel and adventure writer, gear tester and outdoorsy mama based in Banff, Alberta.
Her work has previously appeared in such publications as IMPACT Magazine, Alpinist.com, tujawellness.com, Avenue Calgary, Kootenay Mountain Culture, Skiing.com, Backcountry.com, Canadian Alpine Journal, various newspapers in Western Canada and Highline Magazine, where she also served as Editor from 2011 to July 2013. She is a tourism marketing specialist and has worked on publications and materials with Travel Alberta, Banff Lake Louise Tourism, Parks Canada and a variety of Rockies-based clients. She also publishes an outdoor blog called The Campsite and blogs regularly for Women’s Adventure Magazine.
She is an active member of the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC), sitting on their Mountain Culture committee. Back in 2011, she wrote The State of the Mountains Report, an ACC study into the impacts of climate change from the perspective of some of Canada’s top mountaineers.
Meghan loves any sport that takes her up a mountain or into the backcountry, and also enjoys travel, photography and yoga. Her own adventures have taken her backpacking in the Caribbean, ski touring in the Arctic, climbing throughout The Canadian Rockies and trekking in Nepal. She lives in Banff with her husband, Paul Zizka, a mountain landscape and adventure photographer, and their daughter, Mistaya.
